Since it’s 2.0 release, Disney Infinity has been an endless source of entertainment for my family! We have become addicted to collecting dozens of character pieces that are used as your “avatar” in game ranging from Avengers to the many Princess’ and characters that Disney has to offer. These characters are put into worlds ranging from familiar Disney made worlds or those created by fans. Even if you aren’t into gaming or own the Infinity platform, fans and collectors will love the superior quality and detail put into these figures.
With the “nerd excitement” over the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it was only a matter of time for an announcement of Star Wars themed Infinity characters! Most recently Disney showcased their Star Wars Rebels characters for the Infinity which includes Ezra, Kanan, Sabine and Zeb, and… hang on…NO Hera? C’mon Disney, what gives? Perhaps Hera is being saved for something special in the Infinity series?
Despite the [possible] “snub” of Hera in the set, this is still exciting news – not to mention adding to the anticipation for Rebels SEASON 2!
“In an effort to thwart the evil plans of the Galactic Empire, these characters are key players in the fight against the forces of the dark side, providing a unique addition to the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition experience.”
The announcement of the Infinity 3.0 Star Wars included the characters Anakin and Ahsoka. Although it was nice to see our favorite characters from The Clone Wars, I was surprised that the original cast of heroes wasn’t used to launch the 3.0 set for the Infinity which would play off the recent The Force Awakens trailer. I have always been a “Luke Skywalker FAN BOY” and having these characters of my youth released sooner than later, was very important to me. Of course, this is just the wishes of an “old guy” and nostalgia…but, I wouldn’t have to wait long.
In between the first announcement of 3.0 and the Rebels, my NERD dream was answered – the “originals” including Luke, Han, Leia and our favorite “Walking Carpet”, Chewbacca were featured in the Infinity set Star Wars™ Rise Against the Empire!
Other characters featured in promotions are Obiwan, Yoda, Darth Vader, Darth Maul and more! Of course, the Infinity Star Wars universe will expand further with the release of Episode 7 adding to the clutter around my television at home and desk at work. The timing in this is PERFECT as my 8 and 10 year old daughters have just recently discovered the Star Wars universe! I look forward to playing our favorite Infinity worlds as our favorite Star Wars character.
