Star Wars Rumors: Who is Returning From the Past to The Force Awakens?

Along with the many spoilers and speculations as to the story of The Force Awakens and Episode VIII are the rumors. Most recently, there are two rumors about the upcoming Disney epic that have stood out.

Billy Dee Williams as Lando in The Force Awakens?

When Lando Calrissian entered the saga in The Empire Strikes back, he did so with a suave sophistication that Billy Dee Williams could deliver.And we may get to see more! In an interview with Cinelinx, Williams indicated that he may be returning as Lando in a cameo role for The Force Awakens;

“I have a feeling I’m going to show up. There’s nothing I can really discuss about it at this stage. People think of me as the original cast, but I didn’t come in until the second movie. I did Empire and then I did Return of the Jedi, but I came in after everyone else was introduced…So I think they’re probably proceeding in that way. I can’t imagine them not bringing Lando back.”

I was somewhat shocked when the cast was first announced that Williams wasn’t among the “veterans” returning. With this rumor, fan dreams could be realized. I look forward to Williams’ unique and cool portrayal as the former scoundrel and friend to Han Solo. It would be great to see more playful interaction between Han and Lando in the upcoming film as they do have history and similar backgrounds.

Hayden Christensen Returning?

As reported by, Christensen may have a role in the upcoming Episode VIII.

“A team in the U.K. are soon heading to the U.S. to begin training Hayden Christensen for a Star Wars: Episode VIII appearance of some sort,” -Jason Ward Editor-In-Chief of Making Star Wars

When watching the prequels, I was one of the people who criticized the acting ability of Hayden. Since his role of Anakin Skywalker in the prequels, he has gone on to show his true acting abilities in several films proving critics like me – WRONG. If the rumor is true, I look forward to seeing what Christensen can do with a (expected) new amazing writing team assembled for the next Star Wars films. In my opinion, this could be his Star Wars “redemption role” that can reset the perception of Anakin and Hayden himself to many “non-believers”.

What would Christensen’s role as Anakin be? Memory sequence? Force ghost? Let us know what you think?

What are your thoughts on these rumors? Are they believable? If true, are you happy about the return of these characters? Who would you want to see from the previous films return? Let us know in the comments.

Star Wars:The Force Awakens opens in theaters December 18.
