Star Wars: REBEL SCUM Fan Film Brings the Emotions

From Blood Brother Cinema Co. comes this engaging Star Wars fan film which takes place during the battle on Hoth and the escape of the Rebels in The Empire Strikes Back.

“A Rebellion pilot is hounded by death from the merciless Empire and a frozen grave, after being abandoned during the retreat of the Rebel Alliance from Hoth.”

The video reminded me of the 1985 film “Enemy Mine”, starring Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett Jr. A story where two stranded enemies meet each other with hostility but eventually become good friends. This film isn’t exactly like that but if not for the “twist” ending, it may well have turned out that way.

The director was able to make me feel the fear and emptiness in the stranded Rebel pilot as he looked around at the desolate and frozen mountains. The moment the pilot looked at a hologram of his wife and son brought those feeling home for me. I have always been a Luke Skywalker/Rebel fanboy, but the creators really made me feel bad and empathy for the injured Snow Trooper! I always love films that show intimate characteristics of both sides of a war. Reminds us that those people inside the white suits aren’t robots. Her pain and feeling of being abandoned could be felt through the screen, as well as her attempts to stay strong in the face of a possible execution.

A brilliant fan film that uses raw emotions to bring you into the mind of a battlefield soldier in the Star Wars universe!
