Star Wars Holiday Gift Ideas: The Gift of Charity

‘Tis the season when fans get their list of gifts together to buy for their special someone or letter to Santa of all the Star Wars themed goodies.

In the past week and weeks to come, we will see many articles listing all the Star Wars gift ideas that fans need to have! Whether it’s a special edition action figure for the upcoming The Last Jedi, Tauntaun Sleeping Bags, clothing, LEGO and the list goes on. To be clear, there is nothing wrong with these gift ideas articles, in fact, they have always helped me find the perfect gift for my own Star Wars fan friends. Even introducing me to products I had no idea existed.

This year, Star Wars Reporter decided to do something a little different with our “gift ideas list”. Why not take that money you were going to spend on that Yoda Candy Dispenser and turn that money into a “gift of charity”. We came up with a list of charities for you to consider donating to, this holiday season. We know that there are so many more charities that need help than what we have listed in this article. If we have missed a charity that you feel needs to be on this list, please let us know in the comments or at the address HERE and we’ll add it.

Make A Wish

This charity helps grant the wishes of those children diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. “We believe a wish experience can be a game-changer. This one belief guides us and inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve.”Make A Wish

Toys For Tots

This charity is a program run by the U.S. Marines and helps distribute toys for kids whose families can’t afford gifts at Christmas. What we also love about this charity is that these gifts are delivered by a Marine volunteer. This is great dedication from this group of Men and Women!

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is an international organization that has been helping different needs of people around the world for decades. With the help of Wal-Mart, they combine forces to help local families.

Starlight Children’s Foundation

Starlight helps hospitalized children and their families around the world. They bring entertainment and comfort to the children through such programs as the Star Wars themed “Starlight Brave Gowns” campaign. These are high quality and comfortable gowns and with a Star Wars theme, helps these children feel like a part of the Star Wars universe!

The K.I.N.D. Fund

This is a charity, through a partnerships of UNICEF USA and MSNBC, that helps supply African children with desks and learning materials they desperately need in their schools.

The Holiday Project

This group helps organize visits to people in nursing homes, hospitals and give support and companionship to people who may not have family and may also not be mobile in their facilities.

UNICEF

“For 70 years, across 190 countries and territories, UNICEF defends the rights of every child. Explore our work to see the programmes we create on behalf of children.”

The Red Cross

The Red Cross helps those in need around the world. From those affected by war to disasters, these volunteers work quickly to help.
