The Classic Muppet Show Series Returns February on Disney+

“It’s time to play the music, light the lights and meet

The Muppets on Disney Plus tonight!”

Disney has announced that the all 5 seasons, movies, shorts and more of The Muppets will join the line-up on Disney+ February 19th!

““The Muppet Show” stars Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, the Swedish Chef, and more in a groundbreaking twist on the classic variety show, blending original songs, sketch comedy, and guest stars into a prime-time hit for all ages.

“It’s going to be great to welcome back longtime fans, and to give a new generation of fans a chance to see how we got our start, how Miss Piggy became a star and so much more,” said Kermit the Frog. “Today, I’m proud to say: ‘It’s time to play the music, light the lights and meet the Muppets on Disney Plus tonight!’ And as for Statler and Waldorf, the two old guys in the balcony, I can only add: ‘Sorry, guys, but….here we go again.”

Originally premiering in 1976, some of Hollywood’s brightest stars stopped by “The Muppet Show” for unforgettable comedy and chaos including Steve Martin, Elton John, Liza Minnelli, Alice Cooper, Julie Andrews, Bernadette Peters, Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, Gene Kelly, and Mark Hamill.

With all five seasons of “The Muppet Show,” Muppet favorites like “Muppet Treasure Island” celebrating its 25th anniversary next month, and new hits like “Muppets Now,” Disney+ is now the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, Muppetational streaming service on Earth. From creator Jim Henson, The Muppets first premiered in 1974 in two episodes and later an ongoing series in 1976. Growing up, the series was a family event in my house every week! The funny characters and unique style of humor was appealing to both children and adults.

One feature that set the show apart from others were the numerous celebrity guests that would appear on and perform along with the quirky crew of Muppets! One such guest was my hero – LUKE SKYWALKER! Mark Hamill appeared on the show months before the release of The Empire Strikes Back in several musical and comical skits that. Seeing Luke on screen on one of my favorite tv shows, was a mind blowing experience for me! Mark Hamill was joined by Chewbacca, C3P0 and R2D2.

This is NOT The Star Wars Holiday Special! I recommend you watch the series and episode, not only for the nostalgia but for the amazing family fun from an era long, long ago…

The Muppet Show will start streaming Friday, February 19 on Disney+.
