Star Wars: From the Big Screen to the Table-top RPG with “Steve is Board”

My RPG life began for me as a young kid when I bought the original 1983 Dungeons and Dragons Basic Set (Red Box) from Liang’s Drug Mart across the road from my house. I was hooked! I got to live my NERD dream of fantasy and adventure battling dangerous monsters in endless dungeons. Could it get any better?

This was around the same time that my favorite space saga, Star Wars, was seemingly over with the release of The Return of the Jedi. It wasn’t until 1987 with the release of the West End Games Star Wars D6 RPG game was released that Star Wars was “reborn”! The game gave us an opportunity to create heroes that would fly around in spaceships, fight Stormtroopers, escape a Sarlaac and more! Time passed and the RPG ended and was replaced by several different versions including the current RPG from Fantasy Flight Games – which is amazing!

In that time of trying to learn the game, I came across an informative YouTube channel that would discuss different RPG’s such as Dungeons and Dragons, Mutants and Masterminds and of course, the NEW Star Wars RPG, giving advice on character creation, opinions on gaming supplements and more. The channel – Steve is Board.

Steve released a video that was a little different from his usual “advice/review” content. Today he did a brilliant adaptation taking A New Hope from the big screen and telling the story through the mechanics and tools of the RPG. It is very clever and you can see how the developers were influenced and included certain elements to the game. This is a much watch for GAMERS and for those curious.
